Cooler mornings and beautiful sunsets, sounds like fall is in the air. These fall like conditions have me thinking about tautog and big bass coming into the backwater to put the feed on.
Fishing in the pond this week has really lit up. A fair amount of fluke being taken from the rocks and the pond. With many good size bass being taken from the jetties and the channel. They are hitting plugs, bucktails, top water, and eels. The top water bite is getting better due to the abundance of mullet around. They are currently ranging 2-5" in size. Other bait being found in the pond includes rain bait, silversides, Snappers, and peanut bunker.
Out front there has also been a lot of different bait including mackerel, bay anchovies, peanut bunker, and rain bait. Bass, Bonita, and Bluefish have been being see on these pods of bait. Rumors of False Albacore being around have started, there are a lot just offshore right now mixed in with bluefin.
Fluke reports have been improving this week with a good amount of fish being caught with some healthy size keepers in the mix. Most reports are coming from in front of the center wall and out to the east.
Tuna reports are on and off. A lot of small bluefin around. Mahi are starting to make their way in and we're hoping as some warmer water starts to tail in we get some yellowfin to come in close.
