It's that time of year where we start reminiscing about our season and warmer days on the water. Most of the boats are out and a few die hard surf fisherman catch they're last stripes of the year. Fish this time of year can be the most rewarding. Bearing the cold, catching less fish and never knowing which striper will be your last.
This week we had gannets pushing the beach. When they are around you can guarantee there are herring, bunker, shad or other big bait in the water. Some mornings this week has produced decent striper fishing along the south shore. A few brave hearts ventured into the back of the pond on the windy days this week still able to find a few nice fish. Shad and bluefish are still around presenting other opportunities for surf fisherman. Tern is a shore bird seen often from the beach they are mostly after small bait in the water.

Tautog fishing has remained good with the majority of fish coming from a little bit deeper of water. 30-40 ft. the occasional cod, seabass and scup continue to come over the rail. Its great to see more cod being caught locally with out being targeted. Hopefully their numbers can continue to grow.
Fresh Water fishing can be great this time of year especially when the sun comes out mid day. Largemouth bass are one of my favorites to target this time of year. Hangry Pickerel and trout are an enjoyed by by catch.
