It felt like early September this past week. Hoping it gave the fish a minute to breathe on their run south. It has been a decent week for customers. Night stalkers seem to be finding some good size fish with mixed reports some anglers doing very well and others not doing so well. I always feel like I do better fishing around the new moon. I find the fish can be skittish around the full moon. We are fast approaching the new moon Nov 1st.
Shore reports, a few breaking fish coming tight to shore this week on the south shore. Watch hill has seen most the striper action as to Charlestown has seen some bonito, blues and shad. There have been good reports of healthy schools of bass in the bay we are hoping some bay anchovies and bunker nestle into the beach lip and give the fish a reason to cruise the coast rather than making there way to deeper water and eventually finding Montauk or other areas south.
It has been another great week for tautog fishing sticky bottom and current flow is getting the job done. Some guys doing so well they end up just playing a game of tug and letting the fish go because they're box is full. Shore guys seem to be catching in Narraganset and guys getting them off the point at the Breachway and inside on a slack tide.
Ponds are still warm and loaded with bait. Guys have been doing well in the backwater with swim shads and topwater. I've even found an eel bite going on in some of the skinny water. Big bass can find their way into the ponds this time of year to sun themselves during the day and then put on a feed at night. Their movements this time of year is something that is almost not masterable.
The Crew here at BB&T are excited to see the Breachway repairs and we all are going to see some massive changes at the Breachway. We are hopeful that this is a step in the right direction. You can see the majority of work being done at Low tide if you want to come check it out. So far the fish don't seem to mind!
